Hugo B. Lefort & Vanessa Brazeau (Canada)

Vanessa Brazeau, choreographer, performer and teacher based in Montreal, Canada, is a graduate of the School of Toronto Dance Theater (now Dance Arts institutes) which served as a springboard for her career. Her artistic signature in contemporary dance has definitely been influenced by the numerous international festivals in which she participates, such as the B12 Festival in Germany on several occasions, the Summer Intensive in Portugal, Deltebre Danza in Spain, and the One Small Step festival in Greece , where she works with the biggest names in contemporary dance in Europe.

Pushing creativity further and further, Vanessa presents pieces across Quebec and participates in several festivals such as the Festival Quartiers Danses, the DansEncore International Dance Festival and the Sherbrooke Contemporary Dance Festival. She is recognized for her unique style with a specific choreographic writing which is mainly defined by the creation of conflicts in the body, intensity and fluidity. Her work reflects her unwavering passion for artistic expression and her desire to provoke reflection on human dynamics. Vanessa has been teaching contemporary dance for more than 10 years now in several schools in Quebec and is the artistic and educational director of the Dance-Studies program at De Mortagne secondary school on the south shore of Montreal. Her pedagogy is based on the importance of developing the artist in movement, alongside the importance of pushing the body into great physicality while in control.

Hugo B. Lefort graduated from the Montreal Conservatory of Dramatic Art in 2010, where he was formed as an actor. He has been seen on screen in numerous roles in Quebec since his release. He is also part of the cast of iShow, at the theater, which toured in Canada and Europe for 4 years.

He has taken photos since 2002, and in 2010, he became a freelance photographer. He also has his own photo studio where he does commercial photography with many clients. Photography led him to work as cinematographer for tv shows, short films, music videos and web series, including DEEP, broadcast on Tou.tv and recipient of the « reflet d’or de la meilleure websérie » in Geneva, of a Numix and a Prix Gémeaux. All these experiences enrich his work; from the staging to the lighting.
